Prestigious award for Tansterne Advanced Biomass Project

By | HRS News | No Comments
HRS Energy is celebrating after the Tansterne Advanced Biomass Project, in collaboration with CF Struthers and Solar 21/GB Bio, won ‘Best Renewables Project’ at the prestigious Humber Renewables Awards last night.

The awards, which are sponsored by Siemens and run by the Hull Daily Mail, recognise the green innovation of companies operating in the Humber and East Yorkshire area – increasingly acknowledged as a leading national hub for renewable energy.

The Tansterne development, designed by HRS, manufactured by CF Struthers and financed by Solar 21/GB Bio, saw off strong competition to take home the award for Best Project.

The £50m 21W biomass plant will come online next month, and will provide enough clean power for 10% of the households in Hull. It will combine world-leading technologies to produce some of the most efficient, flexible and cost-effective clean power on the market – using sustainably sourced local waste wood as a fuel stock.

As a proud long-term member of the Humber business community, HRS Energy is thrilled to have been recognised for our contribution to the local area – and for leading the way in renewable power generation.

Mark Wickham, Managing Director of HRS Energy, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to have won the award for Best Renewables Project.

“The Humber is one of the most vibrant and dynamic areas of the UK and is probably now the foremost region for renewables development.

“To win ‘best project’ here is therefore a significant accolade – and as long-standing member of the local community it feels even more special.”

Look out for the Hull Daily Mail’s special feature on the Awards, being published next week.

Tansterne Advanced Biomass Project receives double award nomination

By | HRS News, Uncategorised | No Comments
HRS Energy is proud to announce that we have been shortlisted for two categories at the 2017 Humber Renewables Awards, organised by the Hull Daily Mail.

The awards seek to recognise the green innovation of companies operating in the Humber and East Yorkshire area – increasingly recognised as a national hub for renewable energy.

As a proud long-term member of the Humber business community, where our equipment is manufactured by our sister company CF Struthers, HRS Energy is delighted to be recognised for its contribution to the local area.

HRS has been shortlisted in two categories at the 2017 awards. Along with our project partners, CF Struthers and GB Bio/Solar 21, we have been nominated for the ‘Best Renewable Energy Project or Installation in the Humber Area’ prize for our world-leading £50m 21W biomass plant in Tansterne, which will be coming online next month and will provide enough clean power for 10% of the households in Hull.

We have also been shortlisted in the ‘Green Innovation’ category for the Advanced Biomass Power Generator – the technology being constructed at Tansterne – which brings together several of HRS’s ground-breaking innovations to set a new global standard in efficient biomass generation.

These nominations reinforce HRS Energy’s position as both an engaged local player and a world-leading renewable energy developer.

The ceremony will be taking place on 9th March at The Deep in Hull.

Mark Wickham, Managing Director of HRS Energy, said:

‘We are honoured to have been shortlisted for these prestigious awards. HRS is proud of its association with the Humber region and to be recognised locally for the work that we are doing is a great feeling.’

‘We are very much looking forward to serving the community with clean power once Tansterne bcomes operational next month.’

Biomassive opportunity for Wales, says HRS Energy founder

By | HRS News | No Comments
recycling-waste-world-logoFrom Recycling and Waste World: “Ahead of his appearance at the RenewableUK Wales conference, HRS Energy founder and MD Mark Wickham explains why biomass presents a phenomenal opportunity for the nation. With England and Wales grouped together at the Euro 2016 football tournament, competitiveness between the two nations is at fever pitch. However, in terms of their set ambitions to develop a more sustainable society, Wales is already giving England a thorough clobbering. As part of the Environment Act passed earlier this year, the Welsh Assembly has committed, by 2050, to reduce carbon emissions by at least 80%, to meet all of its energy needs from renewable resources, and to become a zero waste society. While the whole of the UK is bound to the first of these targets through the 2008 Climate Change Act, Cardiff’s ambition comfortably outstrips the targets currently set by Westminster around renewable energy and resource efficiency. The Environment and Sustainability Committee also recognises that the optimum energy future for Wales will involve smaller, decentralised generation which can power local homes and businesses.” Read the full article here.
